Rehoming Cattle in Queensland: Cows, Steers and Bulls

Life changes. The property sells, the knees aren't what they were, or the house cow you raised from a poddy calf has outlived the plan you had for her. If you need to find a new home for a cow, steer or bull in Queensland, here's what to think about, and how we can help.
Before you rehome a cow, steer or bull
Be honest about temperament. Is he quiet to handle? Does she come to a bucket? Will they load onto a trailer? Bulls especially need a clear picture so we can plan safe paddocks and fencing.
Gather the health history. Age, vaccinations, tick and worm treatments, and any lameness, eye or skin issues.
Sort the paperwork. In Queensland, cattle need an NLIS tag before they move, both properties need a property identification code (PIC), and the move needs recording on the NLIS database. Cattle tick rules can also apply depending on where you are. Check Business Queensland for the current rules, and we're happy to talk you through it.
Keep mates together if you can. Cattle are herd animals. If you have a bonded pair, tell us and we'll see if they can come together.

Free cattle rehoming at Hidden Camp
Hidden Camp is a 169-acre family farm in Glenwood, QLD, between Gympie and Maryborough. We've got the paddock space for cattle, and we take in cows, steers, heifers and bulls for free. Once they join the mob they stay for life. No sale yards, no freezer, just grass, shade and a family who think they're great.
Get in touch. Call or text Callan on 0478 116 143, or send us a message on our rescue and rehoming page.
Tell us about them. Breed, age, sex, temperament and a couple of photos help us check we have the right paddock ready.
Sort out the move. Delivery by your own float or a livestock carrier is easiest. Callan can sometimes collect, depending on the animal, distance and timing.
